Killing Joke
Happy 2010 New Wave Lovers!
I realized it’s been a long time since I last posted here. I guess you could say I made an unofficial resolution to myself to resume posting about the music I love. Let’s see how well I do!
I’ll admit, I spent a good chunk of the 90s firmly ensconced in the dark alternative aka “goth” scene. That scene and “culture” certainly doesn’t fit me anymore, but my love for the music endures. Especially post-punk, darkwave, industrial, and Gothic rock from the 80s. I previously posted about some of the seminal acts of the genre… Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Fad Gadget…among others.
It’s only right that I mention and acknowledge Killing Joke when talking about post-punk, industrial rock, or dark alternative.
During the first set of my New Year’s Eve gig, I played “Love Like Blood” and it was well-received. It stoked a renewed interest in them. According to the official Killing Joke website, they have a new album in the works (due to be released in April 2010) and will be touring to commemorate their 30th anniversary. No word on US dates, but we can only hope!
In the meantime, enjoy some of their classic tracks…
“Love Like Blood”
“Eighties”
“Requiem”
“Follow The Leaders”
